The ‘Race’ Franchise So Far:

The ‘Race’ series has been a successful one for Bollywood, with the first three films garnering a significant fan following.

The Race franchise kicked off in 2008 with Race, directed by the dynamic duo Abbas-Mustan. The film starred Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, and Katrina Kaif, and went on to become a box office hit, grossing over ₹70 crore. The success of the first installment paved the way for a sequel, Race 2, which released in 2013. Featuring an ensemble cast including Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, and Jacqueline Fernandez, Race 2 managed to replicate the commercial success of its predecessor, earning over ₹100 crore at the box office.

However, the third installment, Race 3, released in 2018, proved to be a major disappointment. Starring Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, the film was panned by critics and audiences alike, grossing a mere ₹169 crore against a budget of ₹180 crore, making it a box office flop.   The cringeworthy dialogues and poor screenplay were widely mocked, with the film becoming a source of memes and jokes among fans.

Sidharth Malhotra Eyed for Race 4

Now, according to reports the makers of the franchise are looking to revive the series with Race 4, and they have their eyes set on Sidharth Malhotra to join the cast alongside Saif Ali Khan.

Fans, however, are not too thrilled about the prospect of Sidharth Malhotra being a part of the Race franchise. His recent films like Yodha and Thank God have been box office duds, and his OTT releases like Indian Police Force and Mission Majnu also failed to generate much buzz.

Many fans believe that adding Sidharth Malhotra to the cast might pull the franchise down further, and they have expressed their displeasure on social media.

On the other hand, some fans feel that Sidharth Malhotra would be better suited to play the role of Michele Morrone’s character in an Indian adaptation of the hit Netflix series 365 Days, given his good looks and charm.

Only time will tell if Sidharth Malhotra’s rumored involvement in Race 4 will prove to be a boon or a bane for the franchise. As of now, the shooting for the film is expected to begin in 2025.

Sidharth Malhotra’s Potential Addition and Fans’ Reactions

Now, with the news of Sidharth Malhotra potentially joining the Race 4 cast alongside Saif Ali Khan, the franchise is poised for a comeback. Sidharth, known for his roles in films like Student of the Year, Ek Villain, and Sherlock Holmes, has expressed interest in the project and is in advanced discussions with producer Ramesh Taurani.

While some fans are excited about the prospect of Sidharth’s inclusion, others are skeptical, citing his recent box office duds like Yodha and Thank God. The general consensus among netizens seems to be that Sidharth’s addition might pull the franchise down, with comments like “Flop karayega ye” (He will make it a flop) and “It’s official, will be a flop” flooding social media.

However, it’s worth noting that the Race franchise has always been about high-octane action, thrilling plot twists, and stylish execution. With the right script, direction, and ensemble cast, Race 4 has the potential to revive the series and regain the trust of the audience.
